• Ruth Dykeman Children's Center is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc. and is a member of the Child Welfare League of America. The center has been a program of United Way since 1922.

All you have to do is contact us and we'll help you find a project that suits your style and schedule. There are many volunteer opportunities either at the main campus on Lake Burien, at special events, or at various community-based sites such as after-school programs, or recreation and educational activities with youth groups. Some projects can even be done from your home or office.

Some examples of ways individuals and groups have volunteered:

• A group of city employees buy birthday gifts for children in residential treatment.
• Many businesses, churches and individuals sponsor a giving tree or adopt-a-family for the holidays.
• Local high school students hold a bowl-a-thon and give money raised to RDCC.
• Bank employees spend the day beautifying the grounds.
• An art teacher assists adolescent girls in painting chairs and other furniture for our annual auction.
• A family donates birthday presents to children who live in residential treatment.
